Bio and Statement....

Bio:
Born in Chicago in 1963 to an artistically inclined family, I took an interest in art at a very young age. Inspired by sketches and cartoon images my Father and Grandfather
would produce from time to time, I started drawing at the early age of four. Throughout the years, I spent many hours creating drawings on my own as well as in classes during my school years. Favoring mostly pencil drawings as a youngster, I also had some experience with charcoal and pastel drawing, as well as painting. About a year out of High School, I became involved in the Tattooing field. I spent the first five years struggling in this field, but persistently continued on with the encouragement of friends, as well as the help and advice of some successful and renowned Tattoo Artists who came into my life at just the right time. A while back, after Tattooing for over 26 years, I decided to experiment and try my hand at painting again – which was an art I had not practiced in many years. Having only explored painting on a very minimal level in my past, I still had confidence in my abilities as I was transitioning from one art form to another rather than starting from scratch. Shadows, light, texture, mood – it would all remain the same. It was a matter of learning with different tools on different canvas.
Although the transition has been anything but easy, I’m glad I decided to sharpen my painting skills. I am still learning all around, but now at a much faster pace - and I tend see everything much differently now that I paint. Currently, some of my Paintings are being displayed at a reputable Midwest Art Gallery, as well as on several respected online Art Galleries. I perform commissioned assignments as well as free lance work.

Statement:
I enjoy all Art mediums, and since Art is a form of expression – I feel there is no right or wrong. In my Paintings, I like using bold colors to add brilliance and attract attention, as well as using dark colors or shadows for mood. I tend to mix mostly realism with subtle hints of surrealism in my work….I feel this keeps things interesting. I like experimenting with many different subject matters, as opposed to limiting myself to just one or two.
